 "DESCRIPTION TEXT"

πŸ“Description Text Definition

Descriptive text serves to explain something. Whether it's a person, object, event, or place. Descriptive text provides a detailed explanation so that the reader understands the object of information sought.

πŸ“ Descriptive Text Structure

The following are two descriptive text structures.

Identification (Introduction/classification)

Answers questions about what specific topic, person, idea, or thing is being described or explained and how it is being described or explained.

Description (Distinctive features)

answers questions about what features or characteristics are important to remember or understand about the topic being described.

πŸ“ Language in Descriptive Texts

In addition, there are some linguistic features in description texts.

Specific participants

This can be something that is not common and is usually unique because it is the only one in the world.

Adjectives used

It can be adjectives, adjective phrases, or / and adjective clauses.

Use of simple present tense

Used in sentences that express activities or facts that happen in the present. This tense uses only one verb.

Use of action verbs

Action verbs are verbs, such as run, think, or calm, that express something that a person, animal, thing, or process in nature does.

Figurative language

Usually using a metaphor to provide an illustration to the reader.

πŸ“ Basic Guide to English Sentence Order

After understanding OSASCOMP, you can learn to construct English sentences in stages. For easy examples, start with easy words.

1. This is a Book

2. This is a nice, small, and old book.

3. It is a square, blue, and Javanese book.

4. It is a paper writing book.

And now you can organize it by adding Language components to make it more pleasant to read and hear, for example:

"This is a Book"

This is a nice, small, and old book. It looks like square the colours is blue. The book is made of paper as commonly Javanese book.

Here are some examples of words that are included in OSASCOMP.

In addition to using OSASCOMP, description text also uses the sensory panca, or 5 senses, in describing something. The 5 senses are, among others:

Identifying Sentence Structure

In creating a sentence, there must be a structure so that the sentence is easy to convey or understand by those who hear it. Same with the descriptive text.

Sentence structure: S-V-O + adverb

S = Subject

V = verb

O = Object

Adverb =

Manners

Place

Time

5W+1H (What, Who, Why, Where, When, How)

Identifying Verb

Transitive and intransitive: these two words have different meanings.

• Transitive is a verb to be followed by a noun or object; if not given with an additional object, then the word will feel weird or unpleasant to read.

• Intransitive is the opposite; intransitive is a verb that does not require an object or noun.

Here's an example of a transitive verb and an intransitive verb.

Identifying Adverbs of Manners

An adverb of manners is a description word that explains how to do it.

Here's an example adverb of manners.

Identifying the Adverb of Place

An adverb of place is a description of a place.

Here's an example adverb of place : specific and general.

Identifying Time

An adverb of time to clarify a word specifically at its time.

Here's an example adverb of time : specific, general, and frequency.

Coordinating Conjunction

It is necessary to choose the correct word of connection so that the order of sentences is in accordance with the rules of sentence writing. The other word in the word is conjunction. Here we use Coordinating Conjunction, which means the word that connects sentences one with the other equally.

Here's an example of a coordinating conjunction.

πŸ“Here is a good and correct description

"The Bedroom"

The bedroom is my favorite room. The wall color is blue, which is my favorite color. it’s one snug bed that faces the window. Every morning, the sun shines through my window and wakes me up.

I put my table for study and do my prep at the corner. Beside that table, there is a massive wardrobe wherever I place all of my garments.

My father created the wardrobe on behalf of me as my birthday present. On the left aspect of the table, there’s a shelf wherever I place all of my favorite books. On the table, there’s a lamp, laptop, stationery, and notebook. although my room is tiny and straightforward, I notice it is terribly cozy.
